Then she was sitting on the sidewalk across the street, thinking that my father would strangle her to death if she knocked on the front door.

A few hours later he worked up the courage to confront my father, which turned out to be an anti-climax because my father had no idea about Robert’s part in the drama. Robert entered my room and handed me a paper; He wrote a poem for me sitting across the street from my house. I remember how thrilled I was that someone would do such a thing.
