5 Step Coaching Formula For Giving Yourself a Raise – Pain, Solution, Process, Mentor, & Action

I had something severe pain I lost all my clients in one day. I received a letter telling me that the person who gave me access to the franchise owners of a large promotional products company is no longer employed in the corporate office. He himself became the owner of the franchise. He was replaced by someone who wanted to take a different direction – and that included decisions no To use my services.

1. Identify the pain

What was my pain?

Here I was a single mother with three children, a mortgage to pay and I had lost my source of income!

The real problem was that I didn’t know how to get clients out of the relationships I had built in my former business as a promotional products distributor. I had no income, and no idea how to get clients for my coaching business – and this was just the beginning of the current “recession”. All I could see was that no one was spending money.

2. Identify the solution

I realized that I needed to find clients who were already looking for a coach rather than trying to convince them to hire me when they didn’t realize they needed a coach yet.

Before I could find customers who were already looking for me (or at least already looking for life success solutions) and possibly a life success coach, I needed to figure out how to do this on a larger scale than just my circle. Of influence – the people I considered “not spending money”. what Someone needs to create a road map or a set of instructions for me to follow So that I can find my ideal prospect.

3. Mark the block

I was seized with fear the day I sat down with the letter from the corporate office. What if I don’t find any new clients? What if I can’t find the right guidance to help me understand what to do and how to reach people who are already looking for…someone…looking for life success coaching?

After I sold my promotional products business and took on clients from within that industry, I never ventured into uncharted territory until the day I received that letter, when I was by force To figure out what to do next.

4. Identify the process

“What next?” Here’s what I knew while thinking:

  • I need to create an income for myself and my children, and fast!
  • I needed to find prospects and clients with money to invest, who were looking for what I had to offer as a coach from a larger sphere of influence.
  • I had to overcome this fear of unknown territory on how to find clients outside of the field I had spent 16 years of my adult life in.
  • I need an action plan and a process that I can follow from someone who has successfully found clients using the same plan.

I learned and applied practices from several people on the Internet when building my promotional products business, so I had a really good place to start. I went back to find many people I had learned from whose material had already worked for me.

I soon discovered that a lot has changed in online marketing in just one year. I need to educate myself on many other tools I haven’t used for my promotional products business. Things like blogs, social bookmarking, social networking, article marketing were new to me. I on my own dabbled In each of them and not terribly impressed with the results.

I would post on my blog and see my stats – but I wasn’t getting any visitors. I have used social bookmarking for my own personal benefit to find and remember sites that are valuable to me I don’t understand how and why I am sharing the link.

One thing I did that gave me interesting results was to start my own internet radio show. I’ve been brave enough to start inviting guests from groups of people who use the material – emails, telecourses and blogs – that I’ve learned from to join my show as guests. In fact, I’ve started two shows – both of which have started to build a following. In the beginning I didn’t realize I could read the stats on TalkShoe.com to see how many people had downloaded my show from the archive. Sometimes I would record the show and there would be no one but the guest and I would be on the call – but after the show was recorded, hundreds of people downloaded the show every week!

Although I discovered something that was finally getting attention and I even attracted clients from my radio show – it was hit or miss at best.

I need a more integrated process that will work consistently – and work 24/7 every day whether I’m working or not! I knew as a coach myself The best use of my time would be to find a mentor, a trainer who found a way Bringing clients to them with a process that I can learn and duplicate.

One day I was invited to participate in a program that would change my life. It was a 60-day commitment of about two hours a day. I almost did it. I almost said I didn’t have time because I was too busy Trying to build my coaching business.

5. From process to action

What I see many coaches do is what I started doing until I figured out what the step-by-step process was for running my business so that it would attract my ideal clientele – and that’s dabbling In all steps, they never understand how they work together.

Even worse, I know many coaches who know they should be doing certain things – but aren’t even doing what they know with any consistency. If every one of my businesses closes, I know it’s because I didn’t consistently do for myself what I know and teach my clients.

You have to start implementing what you know and discovering what you don’t – and with a coach or mentor it’s easy to guide the path they’ve traveled.

This story describes a practice that can be used in a variety of situations to create successful outcomes in the midst of change. These simple steps can help you advance your coaching practice:

  • Find a mentor to guide you through the process
  • Work in process
