My Husband Doesn’t Want to Work it Out, But I Do – Tips and Advice That May Help

I sometimes get emails from wives who want to convince their husbands that marriage can be fixed. Often, they say something like, “How can I convince him to work with me to save our marriage? He doesn’t want to do anything, but I know that if he gives me a chance, I can prove to him that it can work.” can.”

I understand this position because I have been in it myself. You feel like you’re just a few steps away from being able to turn the whole thing around, if he gives you a chance or if you can just keep a little foot off the edge of the cliff. But, here’s what I learned the hard way. You can’t force a man to do what he doesn’t want to do. And, often when you try to manipulate, coerce or convince her of something else, she will either resent you or ignore you. All of this is what you want.

You alone can make effective changes in your marriage:It can be very difficult to accept that you may have to start this process initially. No one wants to do this alone, but let me tell you first that you can make some very meaningful and effective changes on your own. Honestly, you don’t really need her permission or even her cooperation to get started. In short, you participate in what I call acting “as if.

It means that you are just beginning to attend your wedding as you hope it will eventually be. If you want more affection from him, you give him more affection. If you want a more meaningful conversation, you start talking more about intimate topics. If you want more intimacy, you start doing things that are going to contribute to it.

He may think that this is all a bit strange and wonder what you are doing. He might even resist it because he might think it’s part of your master plan. However, don’t let that stop you from continuing. Because your goal is to ultimately model what you want your reality to be. The idea is that when he sees it, he will realize that he has been somewhat mistaken in his perception. You want him to see that he’s a bit rushed to not want it to work because, without any help from him, it’s working on its own.

Navigating the Fine Line of Resistance: Now, there’s no need to telegraph what you’re going to try. Because he might tell you that you are wasting your time or become more resistant. You don’t really need to close him. You just want him to look around one day and realize that things aren’t as bad as he thinks and that the happy-go-lucky, confident, bubbly woman he fell in love with is really back and present.

Many women don’t connect the dots so I’ll connect them for you and spell it out. I wish someone could do it for me. When you start having marital problems or your marriage starts to lose intimacy, it’s natural to worry about this. As women, these things really weigh on us and we cannot or cannot hide it very well. So suddenly the positive, happy person who could always bring a smile to her husband’s face is now depressed and quiet. And after that, things go from bad to worse because he was the glue that held the whole thing together. When this happens, husbands begin to think that their wives have changed.

Suddenly, he doesn’t look so attractive anymore because he’s bringing her down instead of lifting her up. It’s just human nature to want to spend more time on things that make you feel good and things that make you feel negative, so he’ll start to back off, even if it wasn’t a conscious decision.

Understanding how you are being perceived: I can’t stress enough that even if things aren’t necessarily great, you can’t allow it to contribute to projecting your negative outlook. Because he’s going to turn right around and project those negative vibes onto you, not the situation. No, that’s not right. Yes, that is not correct at all. But it happens just the same. This is why acting “as if” is so important. This allows you to model how you want him to act, but it also paints you in the most positive light possible in the moment.

If you do this correctly and long enough, a husband will likely begin to replace his negative thoughts with positive ones, and then he will come on board to act. But until that happens, keep doing your own thing. You don’t need it to begin with.
