How to Live a Luxurious Life on a Not-So-Luxury Budget

Like Coco Chanel, I love luxury. My heart skips a beat as I walk past the boutiques in Paris. A three-star Michelin restaurant moans and groans. And, a gorgeous handbag and a hotel staff that constantly says “My pleasure” to my every request makes me smile.

I even created a luxury mastermind program where I had the honor of mentoring an amazing group of women while traveling to some of the most luxurious places in the world like Aspen and Monaco. I think it’s important that women learn how to imbue their business, life and soul with luxury. (By the way, that picture is at our slumber party with a private chef at the Ritz.)

Call me vain, materialistic or whatever the word is for people like me. i don’t care Actually, I understand. I feel the same about people living the “good life” and you know what? It wasn’t because I thought they were bad people. Deep down, I was just jealous, because I wanted it too.

Here’s what you might not know about me. I haven’t always lived in such luxury. In fact, I broke down and died. I’m talking about eating ramen noodles, living in double-wides, chasing K-Mart blue light specials, and putting 25 cents worth of gas in my car.

I’m also not a money coach, which means I don’t teach you how to make more money. I teach you how to tap into your passions, build health, follow your passions, and live life to the fullest. Money just seems to follow a girl like this.

What I discovered is that in order to attract a life of luxury you must first learn to be a person of luxury, which is all about the “French Kissing Life” – filling each day with joie de vivre, passion and desire – achieved with little money in the bank. can be done In fact, this method, not some money management system, is exactly how I have attracted the most luxurious life.

I want to show you how to do it, because I know deep down, you’d probably enjoy a nice bottle of wine or a night at the Ritz Carlton. And, there’s nothing wrong with you for wanting it. In fact, I say, “Go for a sista!”

Deserve it

Few people are lucky enough to become overnight millionaires, but if you want to live a life of luxury, you must align your energies with luxury. So, what’s a girl to do?

Well, you may have to redefine luxury to make it attainable right now, because if your current definition is a fine yacht and you drive a Pinto, guess what? You are drunk.

So, let’s think of luxury like this: Quality people, experiences and things.

When I decided many years ago that I was fed up with the crap in my life, I started looking for quality. I’m done with junk food, whining people and plastic made in China. I wanted more for myself, but I couldn’t afford Chanel at the time (and even though I write about her like we’re best friends now, I still don’t own a piece.) I had to start showing appreciation for the luxuries I had to attract more of it into my life. Had to, and trust me, if you’re reading this, you have a computer. That is a luxury.

Luxury is about quality and sometimes the most quality experiences are free. I can think of nothing more luxurious than snuggling on the couch with my daughter or watching my morning cup of coffee on my back deck.

Instead of me giving you some energy-aligning attraction guides to attract more money, I’m going to share real-life examples of how I started experiencing luxury long before my first Ritz-Carlton stay (BTW, j’adore Ritz). When I started doing the following things, the world of luxury opened its big arms and embraced me:

1. I stopped hanging out with complaints People who always talked about how broken they are. The main luxury resister.

2. I seek quality relationships with people Those who were no strangers to luxury. I wanted to learn how Think like them.

3. I spent More time in nature. There is nothing more luxurious than a barefoot walk in the grass on a summer evening or a good hike in the woods.

4. Luxury abhors hasteSo I slowly enjoyed a cup of coffee and a conversation with friends.

5. I stopped spending my money on crap Save 2 for $20 shirts and a cool $100 when you buy one Luxury is not about quantity; It’s that quality that matters.

6. I hung out in the lobby of a nice hotel And just experience the world of luxury. They don’t charge you for lobby space.

7. I used to drive a junk car so I could Splurge on good food. I still drive less than a luxury car, but my life hasn’t suffered one bit.

8. I follow my passion and participated sweet School. The $500 initial investment opened me up to a whole different level of luxury where I could taste a $1000 bottle of wine and say something fancy, “Hmmm….I guess I need to take a breather for a while.” Major luxury moment. (However, following my desire to learn more about the world of wine, I was asked to write restaurant reviews for a regional magazine and develop a wine program at a country club, which led me to more luxurious experiences that paid me. How cool is that? ?)

9. I used to dress and walk like a luxury womanI mean I didn’t leave the house in baggy jeans and an off the shoulder t-shirt.

10. I am Became a student of luxuryReading quality literature, watching classic films and reading Cities and Countries and Vogue.

11. I stopped listening to my thoughts The ones that say, “Girl, you grew up in a trailer. Who do you think you are?” It’s just unnecessary chatter.

12. I began to fully engage with my world And the people in it, asking questions, looking for answers, and constantly putting themselves out there.

13. I keep fResh flowers in my house.

14. I went to see my parents more. They always made me feel like a princess, even when we lived in double wides.

15. I seek quality conversation which dealt with important topics such as death, life, religion, fashion and food and wine. Well, at least those things matter to me.

16. I have attended lavish events, such as an orientation for women at Duke’s School of Business Remember, I was working as a full-time nurse and never in business. These events didn’t cost me a dime except for gas to get there.

17. I walked through Saks as if I belonged there, not like some lunatic whose eyes were popping out of my sockets when I saw the price of a Louis bag. No, just a shrug like it wasn’t the bag for me.

18. I became aware of what I put into my body and how I moved through the world. Yes, that means eating healthy and exercising.

19. I purged (and continue to purge) my world of inferior people, things, and experiences. Chaos, drama and chaos do not coexist with luxury.

20. I believed that I deserved a life of luxury. This is most important. Many women walk around feeling guilty about investing $20 in themselves. If you do, listen to me. You’re not doing yourself or the world a favor by denying yourself a life of luxury. The most charitable people I know live a good life, the way they are able to help so many. You have to clear this thought to have luxury.

Bonus: I remembered this after finishing the article, so let’s call it a bonus. One of the things I’ve started to do is bless those who live luxurious lives instead of judging and secretly hating them. As “You Go Girl” says, every time I see a woman take off her Prada dress, walk out of a massage parlor or go to Sasha at the Four Seasons, I’m opening my heart to the universe and saying, “Turn it on. I’m ready!”
