A Story About the Amazing Grace Jones & Her Healing Journey of Colon Cancer and Reiki During Surgery

While sitting at a table with my sister at what I was told was a health fair in mid-September, we met a truly amazing woman. As it turned out, this was clearly not a health fair, and Grace Jones was the only person my sister and I could talk to that day. One might think it was just a silly coincidence, but I don’t believe in coincidences. In my heart, I know that we were meant to meet that day, and I am so grateful that we did.

Grace stopped to comment on how she liked my black shirt with the purple butterfly… purple is her favorite color too. As she looked at the items on my table that I was selling, she asked a few questions about Reiki and the crystal healing pouches I made. It quickly felt like a conversation with an old friend, and he shared with me his story of being diagnosed with colon cancer and surgery scheduled for the end of the month. It’s a story Grace chooses not to share with her family. I felt honored that she felt comfortable enough to share her story with me. While speaking with Grace, I quickly gained a sense of her spirit, hearing the incredible amount of positivity that came to me while talking to her about her life.

Thinking back to the cancer diagnosis I had in my life, I remember the vast array of emotions that flooded me every day, none of which were positive or even remotely healthy for me. But the woman standing before me radiated strength, positivity, love and such light. The way she spoke, and the passion for life in her voice, I might never have known what she was going through if she hadn’t told me. I could feel the light shining in his soul. Even when told of his diagnosis, he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was going to find the rainbow at the end of it all and come out with grace stronger and brighter than ever. What a truly amazing woman, and I feel blessed to call her my friend now.

A few days after meeting Grace, she called to talk to me about medical Reiki and asked about all the healing benefits of Reiki before, during and after surgery. Grace asked that I perform Reiki on her during her surgery and I felt honored to be a part of this beautiful woman’s healing journey. I immediately sent out a post to all my Certified Medical Reiki Master Sisters asking that Grace be with us on the day of surgery with thoughts of healing and love and light. Due to the short notice, I will not be able to physically be in the operating room with him, but we have scheduled a two-hour Reiki session during his surgery and I have provided a Reiki drip for the few hours following his surgery so that he will hopefully recover quickly and find himself. His balloon is resting in the hospital room and will begin to heal. Before her surgery, Grace arranged for herself, a room that would look and feel like a celebration was happening while she was there. This is how Grace lived her life and it shined through every turn. Even after her surgery, she wanted to be able to see light and fun things around her while she healed in her hospital room.

Grace gave her daughter my phone number so we could touch base after her surgery and I was so happy to hear all the updates on her miraculous milestones as each day passed. A few days later, Grace was emailing me with wonderful updates on how she was feeling, and was completely back to her true and happy self. Three weeks later, Grace and I met for brunch and boy did she look absolutely stunning. Again, with such light in her heart, I could never have guessed what she went through because this beauty was just glowing. And this to me speaks volumes of his person. I learned that day that, like most of us, her life has less stories than some of the wonderful things she has endured in her life. Sitting next to me was this amazing Grace who, through her own trials and tribulations in life, would not allow any of that darkness to enter the light of her mind, body and spirit. In fact, to celebrate life next week, she planned a surprise trip to London with her daughter. She is such an amazing soul… truly an inspiration to me!

Grace, I thank you for allowing me to be a part and share the story of your healing journey after your cancer diagnosis and surgery. It is my hope that everyone, including myself, will appreciate the many blessings of life around us, and continue to see that we all have obstacles in our way. It’s really how you handle those obstacles that makes all the difference in our lives. From the little I’ve learned about Grace, I know that she constantly sees the sunshine, even in the rain. This is my favorite, really living life and what life is about. If we all learn to do this, the world will surely be a brighter place. Grace, to me, you are and always will be amazing grace, and I feel blessed to have known you. xoxo

Thanks for sending us our way while I do distant Reiki for a truly inspiring woman of positivity for colon cancer surgery. I wanted to share a wonderful collection of miracle cures. After the surgery I got a report from his daughter that her surgery was successful. On day 3, Grace emailed me saying she was doing well and in great spirits at the hospital. On day 4, Grace hits all milestones and will be released the next day. He reported doing great in his healing progress and surprising all the doctors. On day 6, he reports no pain from surgery – only back pain from the dreaded hospital bed. On day 10, Grace is well enough to go to the beach to heal in her happy place, and reports getting stronger every day. On day 12 he visits his doctor and is told that surgery has revealed stage 2 colon cancer. They took it all out and it didn’t spread, so no radiation or chemotherapy was needed. She reports that she is healing beautifully and feeling great! His body is working normally and his appetite is good! I feel truly blessed to receive such fabulous news and to be able to support her on this journey of healing. Just wanted to thank you all for the healing and support as well as the absolutely amazing news on healing.
