Art Manifesto
“The world can be justified only as an aesthetic phenomenon” F. Nietzsche
Humanity has recorded its existence in some form of art since time immemorial. These expressions have been the source of much of what we know about how we perceive and experience existence: the wonder of Montezuma’s sacrifice, the slavery and opulence of the Egyptians, the Guernica massacre, and the hundreds of surviving works of art from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. .
We want to present our story in a way that hasn’t always been part of the mainstream narrative and “official version”. In the 21st century it can still be said that not much has changed since the Renaissance where most media and art centers are geared more towards the wealthy and bourgeois segments of society. Consumers are increasingly consumed by the latest trends imposed by board-rooms in London, Paris, New York or Milan.
Yet there is another less visible story that is often confined to areas of the world that are not part of the “hip and trendy” scene such as the country of China, Vietnam, the inner-city Cuban “barrios” of Brazil, forgotten Serbia and the artists of the former USSR. It is the story of various movements and individual artists who have led men and women in their struggle to survive and achieve a greater sense of equality, justice and dignity against the forces of capital and oppression. This is the chapter in our story that we also want to focus on political art, despite the idea that everything in our lives is political to a certain degree.
Our space is open to all forms of past, present and future expression that reflect the core ideas of countermovements that have challenged the status quo. A classless, just and fair society, not as an anti-thesis to the equation of life but as a hypothesis for a better future. A place where the seemingly voiceless will turn their grief into virtue as composers seek an unheard composition through their grief, yearning for a higher understanding within us as artists.
Artists of the world unite
