“The Baron’s Son: Vede Mecum:” is an allegorical story about three explorers who approach the richest man in the world, the Baron, to teach them how to achieve success, wealth, happiness and power in life. As Baron recounts his life story, he presents eleven maxims. Each of these principles shows the reader how to succeed while still maintaining ethics and integrity.
The most important person in determining one’s success in life will be oneself. No one will take more interest in your success in life than you. By applying the principles presented in this story, you can achieve personal financial goals and leadership without relying on others. This allows you to learn to meet your own needs and not worry about being taken advantage of by businesses that may not share your desire to succeed by doing the right thing. Once you learn to master yourself, you will be able to lead others.
You can apply the eleven maxims to every aspect of your life. There are many great quotes that can be taken from “The Baron’s Son”. One of my favorites is, “If you remember only one thing … it should be that you control your destiny … It’s the thoughts and actions that go into fulfilling that purpose. Knowing and respecting their power is an incredible help.” It has the power to make or break your life.”
The book is written in an Old English format with the story taking place in the Middle Eastern desert. The fictional format of the story makes it much more enjoyable to read than writing in a traditional non-fiction business text format. The subtitle “Vade Mecum” is Latin for “go with me.” This is a guidebook that readers will want to take with them as the more the story is read, the more insight will be gained.
